Las Vegas drivers should prepare for a week of overnight detours as the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) begins a series of closures on Interstate 15 South to accommodate ongoing road widening work. Starting tomorrow at 8:00 p.m., lane and ramp closures will take place nightly, with restrictions remaining in effect until 5:00 a.m. the following morning, continuing through August 22.
According to a release from NDOT, northbound traffic on I-15 will be constricted to a single lane from Starr Ave to Blue Diamond Rd, with similar reductions southbound. Several northbound off-ramps, including those to Blue Diamond Rd and Cactus Ave, will also temporarily be closed to facilitate paving operations.
Significant overnight disruptions will continue throughout the week, including closures of key on-ramps and auxiliary lanes. Notably, a 24/7 lane reduction on southbound I-15 from Warm Springs Road to Blue Diamond Road is scheduled to remain in place through the end of the month. While this advance notice offers a timeframe for adjusting travel plans, NDOT notes that the schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.
NDOT recommends that travelers during these operational hours exercise caution and consider using alternate detour routes when possible.
