The Las Vegas Aviators staged an exhilarating comeback to defeat the Tacoma Rainiers 7-6 in game three of their series, as reported by News3LV. The last night's game saw the Aviators trailing until the later innings where a surge in offense turned the tables.
Despite a shaky start, which had them lagging behind 6-1, the Las Vegas team managed to pull through by scoring two runs in the seventh inning, then bringing it home with four runs in the eighth, including a three-run homer by Junior Perez. According to MiLB.com, Perez, who went 2-for-4, provided the go-ahead three-run homer that cinched the Aviators' lead for the first time since the initial inning. This victory improved the Aviators' record to 18-24 in the second half of the season.
Zack Gelof also made significant contributions to the Aviators' offense, hitting a solo home run and finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, two steals, and two runs. Meanwhile, on the mound, starting pitcher Kade Morris didn’t have his best night, allowing five runs over five innings with four strikeouts, ending with a no decision. It was relief pitcher Jack Cushing who snagged his ninth win of the season, as noted by News3LV.
On the Tacoma side, Ben Williamson had a memorable game, hammering out two homers in what became his first multi-homer game. His performance was overshadowed, however, by the team's inability to maintain their lead, with Vegas pulling off the dramatic win. "Ben Williamson notched his first career multi-homer game tonight with a pair of solo homers in the 4th and 6th innings," MiLB.com reported, batting .286 since August 1.
Ahead of the next game in the series, the Aviators have announced that A's center fielder Denzel Clarke and shortstop Jacob Wilson are poised to begin their MLB rehab assignments during the weekend's games. With the Aviators leading the series two games to one, fans are gearing up for an exciting finish, complemented by a post-game fireworks display to light up the night after Friday's game at Las Vegas Ballpark. The first pitch for the following game is set for 7:05 p.m., as News3LV wraps up the thrilling night.
