The City of Lewisville has rolled out a tech-savvy initiative titled “My Water Advisor 2.0,” aiming to empower its residents with real-time data on their water consumption. This innovative system is accessible via both a mobile application and an online portal, offering an immediate connection between the community and its water usage patterns.
A major incentive for the city's move towards this water monitoring advancement is the enforcement of sustainable practices, in harmony with the wider "Sustainability" Big Move outlined in the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. By providing this tool, the city is actively engaging its citizens in the stewardship of water, a precious and finite commodity. The initiative will not only curtail water losses but is also expected to clamp down on unauthorized water consumption and bring about metering precision, as per the City of Lewisville.
To harness the features of "My Water Advisor 2.0," residents are prompted to use their water bill to register online at mywateradvisor2.com and then download the app from either the Apple or Google Play stores. The city has further facilitated the process by sharing a tutorial video on its YouTube channel, easing the transition for residents into this digital approach toward water conservation and management.
Among the benefits boasted by the system are real-time monitoring, which allows residents to watch their water usage as it unfolds and catch sight of any usage patterns. Additionally, the system is equipped with an intelligent leak detection capability, which can send alerts about possible water leaks to users. This mechanism serves to avert water wastage and forestall spikes in water bills. In terms of usage insights and billing awareness, the app provides a comprehensive analysis and a transparent overview of consumption, respectively, that can guide household decisions on water conservation, as elucidated in the city’s news release.
