As the sun starts to assert its summer dominance over Lewisville, the city responds with the opening of designated cooling centers to help residents beat the heat. Amid sweltering temperatures, public spaces have been transformed into havens of cool air and respite from the summer blaze. Both Lewisville Public Library and The Salvation Army Lewisville have opened their doors as part of this relief initiative, as per the City of Lewisville.
The need to stay hydrated and reside within the embrace of shade or cooler environs cannot be overstated during this time of year—particularly for the most vulnerable among us. Check in on those who may be alone or ill-equipped to handle the heat. It's a simple gesture that can bear significant impact. According to the city's recent announcement, the Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 West Main Street, will be available to offer cooler spaces from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Note that they will remain closed on Sundays.
Another outpost for those looking to escape the high temperatures is The Salvation Army Lewisville, situated at 880 Fox Avenue. They will be welcoming individuals in need of cooling off from 9 a.m. to Noon and then from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Both locations ensure that individuals seeking shelter from the heat can find a place to comfortably cool down.
