Licking County residents have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted paperwork and outmoded electronics at the upcoming recycling event. On September 20, the Licking County Recycling Department and Licking County Records & Archives are joining forces to offer a free paper shredding and electronics recycling service. This environmentally conscious event is scheduled to take place at the Licking County Highway Department garage complex from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

According to the Licking County government's announcement, individuals can bring up to five boxes of personal documents to be shredded. Participants need to ensure that these documents are boxed or bagged securely to maintain privacy. To provide a smooth process, the documents must be prepared without any paper clips, binders, or other non-paper items. Post-event, the actual shredding of paper materials will be handled off-site by Ohio Mobile Shredding.

Alongside paper shredding, the event will also cater to those looking to recycle their outdated electronic gear. Columbus Micro Systems will be responsible for collecting electronic items such as phones, computers, and a wide array of other tech devices. Residents should note that televisions are the exception and will not be accepted; however, a separate event dedicated to TV collection is slated for 2026.

Fostering responsible disposal habits, the event aims not only to declutter homes but also to prevent potentially harmful materials from reaching landfills. Those in need of more details about the event or recycling practices in Licking County can reach out to the Licking County Recycling Department at (740) 670-5125. Furthermore, updates and information can be easily found by following the department on its Facebook page, as highlighted in the official statement.
