A routine traffic stop by Lincoln Police officers has swiftly turned into a significant bust in regional theft cases. In a recent social media post by the Lincoln Police Department, details emerged about the Thursday intervention that led to the arrest of two Fairfield residents, Elijah Peterson-Sloan, 20, and Michael Peterson, 39.
The traffic stop, which occurred over the weekend, connected the vehicle's occupants to a series of thefts. During the search, officers recovered stolen goods from two retailers based in a neighboring city. As a result, both occupants were apprehended and faced charges of theft and conspiracy. The action to immediately arrest them reflects the department's push to quickly take action against suspected repeat offenders.
Particularly noteworthy is Michael Peterson, who due to a record of previous theft charges and a deemed likelihood to reoffend, was swiftly hit with a bail enhancement, keeping him held without bail until his upcoming court appearance. On top of the recent charges, Peterson was also juggling additional charges from the Rocklin Police Department and was wanted on an active felony warrant out of the Davis Police Department at the time of his arrest.
