To equip local contractors with the necessary skills to work with lead-based hazards safely, Lorain County has announced a series of free training sessions focused on lead renovation and abatement practices. The program, propelled by the high interest shown in May's informational event, underscores a concerted effort to tackle the long-standing issue of lead exposure in both residential and commercial properties.

The county's initiative, according to a social media post from the Lorain County Ohio Government, is in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Development. Interested participants have the opportunity to attend one of two Lead Renovation, Repair, and Paint Training classes on either August 7 or August 13. These day-long sessions will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center.

For those seeking more comprehensive knowledge, a five-day Lead Abatement Training program, running from August 25 to August 29, has been scheduled. Each day's training will also be held at the Spitzer Conference Center, with Monday to Thursday sessions taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday concluding at the same time. A Q&A session will follow each class, offering attendees the chance to interact directly with the experts.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with a cap of 20 participants for each session. Those interested in joining should reach out to Garvin Carrington at [email protected] for enrollment details and further inquiries.
