The hospital snagged a 2025 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for its forward-thinking program aimed at the fresh faces in nursing, according to the County of Los Angeles. Dubbed 'Paving a Brighter Future for Nursing', the initiative's goal is clear: give new graduate Registered Nurses a fighting chance at success in the demanding, real-world healthcare setting.
The program, which specifically welcomes RNs with less than a year of experience under their belts, has developed a reputation for its structured approach. It combines training, mentorship, and practical clinical experience to seamlessly ease new nurses into professional practice while simultaneously tackling the plague of high turnover rates within the field, as per the County of Los Angeles. LA General proudly reported that over 550 nurses have passed through the program, with recent cohorts showing retention rates soaring to impressive heights---in some cases, a perfect 100%.
