In a rather remarkable turn of events, the Alhambra Police Department recently reported a traffic stop on Valley Blvd. and Marguerita Ave. that led to an unexpected confession and arrest. According to the Alhambra Police Department, the driver, identified as Daniel Zhao from Los Angeles, preemptively disclosed to the officers that he had a loaded firearm in his vehicle, a revelation that swiftly shifted the routine traffic stop into a criminal investigation.
A search of Zhao’s car uncovered a firearm in the rear cup holder, along with extra magazines and a switchblade knife—a stark departure from the everyday items one might expect during a traffic stop, making this anything but a routine encounter for the officers. The Alhambra Police Department shared this incident on their Facebook page, noting, "Nothing says 'safe storage' like the spot for your iced coffee." In a strange twist, Zhao was arrested and booked at APD Jail without further incident.
