A recent shooting in unincorporated Los Angeles has claimed the life of a 41-year-old male and left another wounded, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. According to a press release from the LASD, the incident unfolded on the evening of Saturday, August 16, around 9:20 PM, when deputies reacted to a report of a gunshot victim and discovered two men in an alley near South Hooper Avenue, one of whom was later pronounced dead by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The shooting occurred after the victims had responded to their car alarm and found suspects attempting to steal their vehicle, which led to one of the assailants firing at the victims, and despite one victim being armed and returning fire in self-defense. The suspects escaped in a red or burgundy four-door coupe, as reported by the LASD.
The identity of the suspects remains elusive. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or use the "Crime Stoppers" anonymous tip line by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or utilizing the online options available through their website or the "P3 Tips" mobile app.
