Following a car chase last night near Wendell, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrest of a man. Law enforcement reported the event began when a deputy tried stopping a vehicle at the junction of Edgemont Road and Hodge Road. However, the attempt to pull over the driver around 8:25 p.m. did not unfold as planned, as the driver failed to comply.
According to a social media post by the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies gave chase, subsequently trailing the vehicle to Wait Avenue and Traditions Grande Boulevard. It was there that the situation escalated—ending with the suspect losing control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash into the Wake Forest Reservoir.
The aftermath of the pursuit saw the driver transported to the hospital for precautionary evaluation. While charges are pending against the driver, the specific nature of those charges has not yet been disclosed. The involvement of the Wake Forest Police Department has been confirmed as well, who are now tasked with investigating the specifics of the car crash incident.
The course of the investigation is ongoing, with the Wake County Sheriff's Office stating, "This is an ongoing investigation and there is no additional information available at this time."
