Early this morning, around 1:40 a.m., chaos pierced the stillness of downtown Houston when a man was discovered in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. The harrowing scene unfolded at Texas Avenue and Travis Street, according to Click2Houston.
The Houston Police Department, actively piecing together the events, reported that the injured man, found in the driver's seat, was immediately taken to a local hospital, his life hanging in the delicate balance of critical condition. Unharmed, a passenger was also present at the scene and, suffering a panic attack, was similarly rushed for medical attention, as revealed by Lt. M. Rylander in statements obtained by media outlets. A trace of violence marred the car, with several bullet holes punctuating its frame.
While specifics of the incident remain shrouded in ambiguity, Lt. Marcus Rylander of the Houston Police Department's downtown patrol division affirmed that officers are culling through surveillance footage in search of answers, as mentioned by the Houston Chronicle.
Lt. Rylander said that although the investigation is still in its early stages, officers have some idea of where the shot may have come from. Efforts continue to piece together the events, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
