A man is fighting for his life following a shooting that took place in South Park, Seattle. Seattle police responded to reports of gunfire on Monday night at approximately 9:40 p.m. near Tastys Bar and Grill and South Town Pie, as per KIRO 7.
Upon their arrival, officers found the victim in a back parking lot off 14th Avenue South, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Initially believed to be a man in his 30s, he was treated for life-threatening injuries by the Seattle Fire Department before being transported to Harborview Medical Center, according to a report by The Seattle Times. After police had arrived, a bar fight was said to have escalated to the violent confrontation that left the man critically wounded.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect or suspects involved, who had fled the scene before officers could apprehend them. The Seattle Police Department's Gun Violence Reduction Unit is actively working the scene to glean any available insights that could lead to an arrest. The area around the incident was combed for evidence in hopes of piecing together the chain of events that led to the shooting, as documented by KOMO News.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
