Tragedy struck near Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit early this morning when a man, whose name has yet to be released, was killed in a shooting. As reported by ClickOnDetroit, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. at the intersection of West Grand Boulevard and Linwood Street, leaving another man wounded. The injured man is currently receiving medical attention for what has been described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The situation unfolded when an unknown assailant, driving a separate vehicle, opened fire on the two men as they sat in an SUV, according to CBS Detroit coverage of the event. This shooting marks yet another instance of gun violence plaguing the city, stirring feelings of unrest and concern among its residents. Authorities are canvassing the area, with officers present at two separate scenes on West Grand Boulevard that are roughly a mile apart, in hopes of gathering evidence to lead them to the suspect.
In a statement obtained by FOX 2 Detroit, the Detroit Police Department shared that the victims had been driving when the shooter pulled up alongside them and started shooting. The victims' vehicle was later found stopped on West Grand Boulevard, outside of the hospital, where police were able to respond to the scene. Currently, the identity of the shooter remains elusive, contributing to an unsettling atmosphere as the investigation continues.
