A violent encounter late Saturday night at the Beach Street Landing apartment parking garage in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties area has left one man recovering from a gunshot wound. According to FOX29, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on the 700 block of North Front Street, where a gunman robbed a man, taking his jewelry and wallet before shooting him in the leg.
Details revealed by 6ABC include that the 45-year-old victim was attempting to drive himself to the hospital when authorities found him. As described by Philadelphia Police Inspector D. F. Pace, "After the robber got his belongings, he then still shot him in the leg one time and then fled." The suspect, whose details remain sparse, has yet to be apprehended as the police investigation continues.
Meanwhile, surveillance video from within the parking garage captured the harrowing ordeal, suggesting that the man may have been targeted for his high-end vehicle, but whether a carjacking was the aim remains unclear. The wounded man was subsequently transported to Jefferson Hospital, where he's been listed in stable condition, as stated in a report by CBS News Philadelphia.
In the aftermath of the shooting, local authorities are requesting public assistance. Inspector Pace mentioned that the suspect was last seen in a distinctive denim jacket, but no further description has been provided.
