
A man was pushed onto the subway tracks at the 50th Street station in Midtown Manhattan over the weekend, authorities say the 44-year-old was able to lift himself back onto the platform after the fall. The incident, which occurred before 8 p.m. yesterday on the southbound No. 1 train platform, resulted in the man sustaining minor injuries according to ABC7NY.
NYPD reports indicate that around 7:48 p.m., officers responded to the scene finding the victim with injuries to his face, the man had been approached by an unidentified individual who pushed him onto the tracks, but thankfully, he did not make contact with any train and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition as per PIX11 News.
The authorities are on the lookout for the suspect who managed to flee the scene after the assault, as of now, the motives behind the push remain unclear. Amidst concerns over subway safety, this incident heightens ongoing discussions about transit security in New York City metro areas.
