
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has recently announced the appointment of Margaret Erickson as the new Vice President for Human Resources, in addition to her role as the institution's Chief Human Resources Officer. Erickson, who moves from North Carolina State University (NCSU), where she played a pivotal role in supporting a staff and faculty of over 10,000, brings a significant track record of human resources leadership to UTEP.
In her previous position at NCSU which she joined in 2019, Erickson was tasked with the redesign and restructuring of critical HR processes aligning with campus evolution, before this she plied her trade at the University of Michigan Shared Services Center marshaling a team of 50 and catering to the needs of 44,000 employees, her experience spans across various realms of human resources from her times as Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Triton College to Director of Employee and Labor Relations at Davenport University, not forgetting her time in the hospitality industry managing HR for restaurant behemoths like McDonald's. Erickson is no stranger to academia, with her educational background boasting a bachelor's and master's in organizational management from Spring Arbor University, strengthened further with executive and performance leadership certifications from Cornell University, and her position as a certified Organizational Development Consultant.
