Maryland State Police are currently seeking the help of the public to find a suspect involved in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Prince George’s County early this morning. According to official reports, the incident took place around 6:20 a.m. on eastbound Maryland Route 202 at Wood Branch Court.
The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Leroy Wedge of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services. Preliminary investigations suggest that Wedge was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a vehicle that did not stop and instead fled from the location. As the search intensifies, authorities are looking to narrow down the model of the suspect's vehicle, which they believe to be either a 2012-2014 GMC Terrain or Chevrolet Equinox.
The aftermath of the crash led to the closure of Maryland Route 202 for more than three hours, as the Maryland State Police investigated the scene.
