
A police chase in Bridgewater ended with the arrest of a Mattapan man yesterday morning. The Bridgewater Police Department has charged Jason Grossett, 31, with a slew of motor vehicle violations, including failure to stop for police and operating a stolen vehicle — a repeat offense for him.
Bridgewater Police state the pursuit began after a stolen vehicle, with a laptop inside that was being tracked, was spotted in their jurisdiction. EventHandler Grossett led police through a series of streets, he eventually was halted in East Bridgewater, where local police had joined the chase.
The pursuit saw Grossett attempting to evade arrest by speeding and making dangerous maneuvers, including driving over a sidewalk. Grossett was taken into custody only after he refused to exit the stolen vehicle and officers were compelled to break the driver's side window to apprehend him. According to the police, there were no injuries reported during the incident.
At the booking window, Grossett initially refused to identify himself. However, police found identification in the stolen car leading to his formal identification. A surprising detail emerged when officers found a wedding dress in the vehicle, belonging to the owner of the car and his fiancée. Grossett, who also had an active warrant out for his arrest, is scheduled for arraignment today in the Brockton District Court.
