
The County of Maui Office on Aging has extended an invitation to all community members to partake in the upcoming Abilities Resource Fair. Set for Aug. 23, 2025, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the event aims to showcase a plethora of services and organizations valuable to individuals with disabilities and their families, and will be held at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center in Kahului.
The fair brings together an array of local businesses and organizations dedicated to providing essential resources. Visitors can expect to find information on varied services, to include health and home care, emergency preparedness, workforce development and vocational rehabilitation, along with educational opportunities, legal support, assistive devices and technology, as well as caregiving and respite services. County Executive on Aging, Rowena Dagdag-Andaya, highlighted the importance of the fair, stating, "This event provides a unique opportunity for individuals with disabilities and their families to connect with local resources and services available in Maui County and throughout the state." She further emphasized the communal aspect by adding, "It’s also a chance for everyone to come together, share experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities we have in creating a more inclusive community in Maui County," according to Maui County official statement.
Beyond the informational aspect, attendees will also be able to enjoy several entertainment acts. The various performances are set to include a fashion show by Ka Lima O Maui and Revive Boutique, chair exercise activities led by Marie White and the County Enhance Fitness team, and to also feature a demonstration by Assistance Dogs of Hawaiʻi. Making the day even livelier, there will be a comedy show presented by Maui Deaf Friends and a talent showcase from Maui Wheelers coupled with Line Dancing with Cal. As an added bonus, door prizes are planned to be given away throughout the course of the fair.
