Mecklenburg County is gearing up to celebrate Women's Equality Day, observing the 105th year since American women's suffrage with a special community event titled Redefining Her Story: Bright Steps, Bold Futures. According to an announcement from the Mecklenburg County Government, the event is set for Aug. 26 and will feature performances from local artists alongside conversations aimed to inspire and embrace gender equality within the community.
The Board of County Commissioners has formally proclaimed Aug. 26 as Women's Equality Day in Mecklenburg County, a date which aligns with the Congress-designated Day in 1973 to honor the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment. The Women's Advisory Board is spearheading the event at Camp North End's Canteen, attracting attendees with free admission and a promise of inclusive programming starting at 11:30 a.m. and concluding at 2:30 p.m.
