Memphis authorities are currently seeking information following a reported carjacking incident that occurred at the New Park Cemetery. According to a release published by the Memphis Police Department, at around 2:00 p.m. on July 26, a driver for Uber arrived at the cemetery to pick up a customer, only to be assaulted by six individuals who then fled with his vehicle.

The victim described an unexpected group ambush, including four women and two men, after he approached the supposed pickup area at 4536 Horn Lake Road. As the vehicle stopped at the cemetery's front gate, he was incapacitated with pepper spray and then forcibly removed from his red 2018 Nissan Versa. They directed him to pull over at the gate under the guise of entering the cemetery.

Investigations led to a breakthrough when surveillance footage uncovered part of the suspects' subsequent movements. The camera footage captured four females abandoning the stolen vehicle at a shopping center on the 3800 block of Jackson Avenue. They were seen exiting the car and departing the scene in a westbound direction.

The Memphis Police Department has released descriptions of the suspects in hopes of soliciting leads from the public. Caught on CCTV, Suspect #1 is described as a dark-complexioned Black female, with braided hair, donning a white T-shirt, orange shorts, and a black fanny pack. Suspect #2, who features long black hair, was clad in a multi-colored T-shirt, black pants, and blue house shoes. Having a bun, Suspect #3 wore a red Mickey Mouse T-shirt, blue shorts, and black shoes, complemented by a black purse. Finally, Suspect #4 had two ponytails and was dressed in a multi-colored T-shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes, accessorized with a pink purse.
