A recent burglary at Extra Space Storage on Germantown Parkway has left one victim short of several thousand dollars' worth of industrial tools. The Memphis Police Department responded to the incident, which occurred on August 7, according to an official report. Thieves made off with valuable equipment after forcibly entering the storage unit.
Details from the police indicated that the burglary was not a random act of chance. Surveillance footage, captured on August 3 around 7:00 p.m., showed a tan older-model extended cab Ford F-150 with a black toolbox in the bed, strategically gaining entry behind another vehicle. The truck was caught on camera, as one suspect managed to quickly slip inside the lot through an existing hole in the fence and then hopped into the passenger seat.
The assailants appeared to have bypassed major security features of the storage facility. They drove straight to the victim's unit, where they were recorded removing items. Their retreat was just as calculated as their entry; they left the property through the front gate with the stolen goods in tow. Police are still piecing together the details and searching for the suspects involved.
Memphis Police Department is reaching out to the community to aid in apprehending the perpetrators. "Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH," they urged in a statement on their website. Clear images of the suspects' vehicle, and possibly the suspects themselves, from the surveillance footage, might just to prove be the crucial link needed to close this case.
The public is encouraged to visit the Memphis Police Department news page for additional details and updates on the burglary. Those with potential leads can directly access the Crime Stoppers information through the department's announcement.
