Early in the morning last Saturday, the Memphis community felt the shockwaves of brazen criminality as Vapor Wize, located at 5030 Poplar Avenue, was the target of a calculated burglary. According to a report by the Memphis Police Department, the incident unfolded at around 4:26 a.m. when a dark-colored Nissan, possibly a Sentra or Altima, rammed into the business entrance with force enough to cause extensive damage.
After creating an improvised entryway, two masked individuals, identities hidden, entered to commence their illicit harvest. The suspects pillaged the store, grabbing smoke and vape products worth approximately $6,000 and snatching an additional $300 in cash. The narrative of the crime, as distilled from the police report, had these individuals fleeing south on Mendenhall Road from Poplar Avenue after completing their grim trade.
Witness descriptions offer scant detail, outlining Suspect #1 as an individual costumed in a light-colored sweatshirt, light color pants, and black shoes. Meanwhile, Suspect #2 mirrored the ambiguity, clad in a light sweatshirt, dark jeans, and black & white shoes. These sketches of the perpetrators, accompanied by the image of the dark Nissan, compose the scant mosaic available to authorities and the public.
The Memphis Police Department is reaching out to the community for assistance. They're urging anyone who might have information concerning this burglary to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
