Officer Kevin Brodzinski was promoted to the rank of Sergeant at the City of Mentor on the Lake Council Meeting this past Tuesday. The Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department took to social media to announce the news and share a few touchpoints from the Sergeant's commendable career.
Education and service are at the core of Sgt. Brodzinski's professional journey. A top 10% graduate from Kent State and a postgraduate from Georgia Southern University, he has demonstrated dedication not just in the academic arena but also in military service. Prior to his police roles, Sgt. Brodzinski served as an army captain, where his responsibilities included being a certified Combat Lifesaver and Battery Commander, with a deployment in 2004 under Operation Enduring Freedom. His transition to law enforcement includes a tenure as an auxiliary officer to a communications office,r leading up to his recognition for Departmental Excellence and Exceptional Service.
As a part of Mentor on the Lake Police Department, Sgt. Brodzinski has continued to show an unwavering commitment to community and policing excellence. It is noted that he remains active on patrol and consistently brings innovative ideas to the fore. His roles have expanded beyond the street as he engages with the youth as one of the main school resource officers at Lake Elementary. These assignments reflect not only his policing skills but also his ability to connect with and serve within the community. In 2022, his peers selected him as "Cadet of the Cycle" during his time at the Lakeland Basic Police Academy, further underscoring the respect he garners from those around him.
His progression to Sergeant seems a natural extension of his career, filled with demonstrated leadership and expertise. The accolades are telling: Officer of the Year in 2023, an Exceptional Service Award in 2024, and a litany of certifications ranging from Crisis Intervention to firearms and TASER instructing. The department's confidence in his ability to surpass expectations in his new role is evident, with the Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department's social media post stating, "We have no doubt that he will exceed expectations in his new role!
