Since its inception in 2016, the Safe Exchange Zone has been a resource for locals to conduct private sales or carry out child custody exchanges under the watchful eye of 24-hour video surveillance, according to a recent post on the Mesquite Police Department's official Facebook page.
Located in the forefront parking area of the Mesquite Police Station, this dedicated zone is highlighted by two marked parking spaces to reassure users that they are conducting their business in an area built to prevent illicit activities, and where assistance is instantly available, the Mesquite Police Front Desk being open and accessible round the clock if reporting of an incident is needed.
"We encourage anyone to use this Exchange Zone for anything from online sales transactions to child custody exchanges," the Mesquite Police Department stated in their online announcement. The presence of this zone underscores a community-oriented approach that aims to mitigate risks associated with private transactions in an era where online marketplaces have surged in popularity.
