This tragic incident, which claimed the life of 27-year-old Akim Toure of Riverdale, MD, unfolded on the evening of Sunday
First District officers were dispatched to the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue, Northwest at about 11:04 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Toure, unresponsive and gravely wounded. Despite efforts to quickly to transport him to an area hospital and exhaust all lifesaving measures, Toure was ultimately declared deceased, as noted in an official statement by the MPD.
The search for the suspect is ongoing, and the authorities have made it clear that they do not want individuals to engage in any direct action.
