Milwaukee will host up to 4,000 National Guard officers this weekend for the 2025 National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) General Conference & Exhibition. The event runs today until Monday next week at the Baird Center, according to a statement from the City of Milwaukee.
Attendees include Army and Air National Guard officers from all 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia. Many will stay in downtown hotels and may be seen in Occupational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniforms while attending sessions and activities. City officials clarified that their presence is not connected to immigration enforcement or policing operations.
The NGAUS conference is an annual event that rotates among cities. It provides opportunities for professional development and networking for National Guard members.
City officials emphasized that the conference has been planned for more than a year and is unrelated to local law enforcement activities.
