Milwaukee police said officers responded last Saturday evening to the 2700 block of North 60th Street to investigate a vehicle linked to several business robberies. They located the vehicle behind a residence and found an armed man on the rear porch, as reported by the Milwaukee Police Department.
Police said officers told an armed suspect multiple times to drop his gun. The 31-year-old did not comply, and gunfire was exchanged. He was hit during the incident, though it is not yet clear if the injuries were self-inflicted or from police gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a firearm was found next to his body, as stated by the Milwaukee Police Department.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department on their Facebook page, four officers with between 5 and 21 years of service have been placed on administrative duty after a fatal shooting last Saturday night. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, led by the Brookfield Police Department, is investigating, and video footage will be released in line with department policy.
