The Buckeye police have confirmed the discovery of 68-year-old Richard Guy, who had been reported missing since last week. According to an official statement released by the Buckeye police department, Richard was found deceased in a desert area. His last known whereabouts had been his home in Buckeye on Monday, August 18.
A report of Richard's disappearance was filed by his family on August 21 after they had not heard from him. Buckeye police began attempts to quickly locate him and issued a Silver Alert. On the following day, Richard's vehicle was found abandoned near Miller Rd and Sunrise Dr., prompting a more intensive search. Despite the deployment of off-road vehicles, drones, and cadaver dogs, Richard was not immediately located.
As reported by the Buckeye police department, the search for Richard resumed early in the morning yesterday, August 26, and before 6:30 a.m., search teams found his body approximately 200 yards from his car. Officials stated that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating that he may have been deceased for some time before the discovery.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to investigate and determine the cause of death. The Buckeye police expressed gratitude towards the community and volunteers, specifically recognizing the Maricopa K9 Search and Rescue for their dedication to aiding in the search. "We share our deepest condolences with Richard's family and loved ones in this difficult time," the Buckeye Police added in their official communication.
