Tragedy struck Richmond Heights over the weekend as a search for a missing man ended when his body was discovered in a residential neighborhood. Calling the situation "a possible burglary," First Alert 4 reports that Richmond Heights police were summoned to the 1300 block of Bellevue Avenue on Saturday afternoon. At the scene, officers found a broken window, an open front door with blood nearby, and after a thorough search, a deceased adult male in the bathroom.
The home invasion, however, took a more sorrowful turn when authorities disclosed that the deceased had previously been reported missing from another jurisdiction and was, experiencing a mental health crisis, believed to be. The Richmond Heights Police Department conveyed that the man had driven to the area without a specific destination, left his vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries upon breaking into the home, as confirmed by FOX 2 Now.
Fortunately, the homeowners were away during the time of the incident, officials stated, asserting there poses no ongoing threat to the public. The protocol of waiting to notify the deceased man's next of kin is currently being followed before releasing any further details about his identity.
Meanwhile, FOX 2 Now indicated that the investigation is ongoing as police continue to piece together the final moments that led the vehicle, abandoned, to the tragic death of the individual inside the home.
