
A tragic incident unfolded in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood over the weekend as a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision. According to the Seattle Police Department, the accident occurred near North 85th Street and Linden Avenue North last Saturday morning. Seattle police and fire department personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene.
The collision involved a red Ford making a U-turn and a motorcyclist attempting to quickly pass the vehicle. This maneuver resulted in a severe impact, leaving the 33-year-old rider critically injured. The Seattle Fire Department medics quickly transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for urgent care. In their effort to thoroughly investigate, detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad were called to analyze the circumstances of the crash.
Further examination by police revealed that the SUV’s driver, a 27-year-old man, displayed signs of impairment. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the individual and confirmed the suspicion of intoxication. Compounding the gravity of the incident, it was discovered that the driver’s license was suspended, they lacked insurance, and there was an active warrant for assault against him.
The law enforcement officers, recognizing the severity of the situation, had no choice but to take action. The SUV driver was transported and booked into King County Jail, where he now faces investigation for vehicular assault. It was a clear-cut decision as much as it was an unfortunate necessity to immediately remove the threat he posed to the public sphere.
