
A fatal motorcycle accident yesterday morning claimed the life of one individual on Interstate 270 in West Columbus, as confirmed by several local news outlets. The incident, which involved a single vehicle, took place just after 10 a.m., near the southbound ramp to I-70 East, according to ABC6.
The rider was promptly transported to Grant Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly before 10:50 a.m. Details on what led to the motorcyclist losing control and subsequently overturning remain undisclosed at this time. Traffic flow suffered as the I-270 South ramp closed, but has since been reopened.WBNS reported that the motorcyclist had been driving a Harley Davidson when the tragedy occurred.
In the wake of the crash, the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene for further investigation. Witnesses or those with potentially helpful information were urged to step forward and contact the Columbus Division of Police or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS (8777), as stated by WBNS.
Earlier, a different crash report indicated that an accident also took place on Interstate 71 southbound between E 11th Avenue and E 5th Avenue around 10:30 a.m. which added to the traffic delays on the highways however, it was not immediately clear if these incidents were related or coincidental; following these events, I-71 experienced a noticeable slowdown in traffic and the ramp from I-270 to I-70 faced closure for several hours, as per NBC4i.
