Metropolitan Police are on the lookout for individuals connected to a recent armed robbery in Northwest. Last Sunday morning, officers from the Second District arrived at the 1100 block of Connecticut Avenue Northwest after a distress call was placed at around 2:56 AM. They were met with a scene straight out of a crime drama – two suspects had just robbed a pedestrian of their jewelry at gunpoint before hastily retreating into a silver Toyota Rav 4, escaping into the anonymity of the night.
Officials from MPD have worked to quickly disseminate surveillance photos capturing the incident and are actively encouraging any person with information to come forward. According to the police report, one suspect produced a handgun to quickly demand the victim's valuables—a demand the victim complied with, likely in the interest of self-preservation. The suspects then left with as much haste as they had arrived, taking unknown paths away from the scene of their crime.
The search for these suspects is not without incentive; MPD has put forth a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. For those armed with knowledge relevant to the robbery or the whereabouts of the suspects, MPD has advised strictly against personal intervention – a wise directive in the face of potential danger.
