The Metropolitan Police Department is on the hunt for information following a homicide in Northwest. On Wednesday, an incident left one man dead from stab wounds. Third District officers were called to the scene on the 700 block of V Street, Northwest, after reports of the stabbing surfaced just after midnight on Wednesday.
Despite the quick response and efforts to rapidly transport the victim to a local hospital, the man, identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Simmons-Miller of Gaithersburg, Maryland, succumbed to his injuries. Medical professionals were unable to save his life, and he was officially pronounced dead soon after arriving at the medical facility.
In a press release detailed by MPD's official website, the department has asked the public to help bring forward any knowledge about the crime. They stress that individuals should not directly engage but rather reach out via phone at (202) 727-9099 or text their tip to the department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. There is also a financial incentive for information leading to an arrest; the MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 for leads that conclude in an arrest and conviction of any responsible party.
