Residents of Neptune Beach are advised of two upcoming city meetings on Wednesday. According to the City of Neptune Beach official website, a Special City Council Meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 116 First Street. The main agenda is the first public hearing on the tentative millage rate and the city’s budget for the next fiscal year.
The hearing schedule follows state law, which requires the first public hearing to be held no earlier than 65 days after the property appraiser certifies property values. This ensures that the council uses the most current financial data in its planning.
Immediately after the Special Meeting, the Regular City Council Meeting will take place in the same location, covering additional city matters beyond the budget discussion.
Residents should note that anyone wishing to appeal a council decision must ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including testimony and evidence, for use in the appeal process.
The city has also stated that accommodations will be provided for persons with disabilities. Those needing assistance should contact the City Clerk’s Office at least 48 hours before the meetings, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Florida law.
