
The Nevada State Police announced the passing of one of their retired K9 members, Barney, who, after dedicating years of service to drug detection, ended his watch from the comfort of his home. Barney, a former member of the Nevada Highway Patrol, was remembered for his contributions to public safety as he worked alongside retired Sergeant Dice from 2011 to 2018 to help remove illegal drugs from local communities. As reported by the Nevada State Police's social media post, Barney passed away at age 15, after living a full life.
K9 Barney, a retired member of the Nevada Highway Patrol, was recognized for his years of service in drug detection alongside Sergeant Dice from 2011 to 2018. Throughout his career, Barney was involved in numerous drug interdiction efforts and was awarded second place in a regional K9 trial, demonstrating his effectiveness in the field. After retiring, Barney was adopted by Sergeant Dice. According to the Nevada State Police, Barney passed away at the age of 15. In a statement, the Nevada State Police's post said, “Thank you for your loyal service, K9 Barney. Rest well. Our thoughts are with retired Sergeant Dice and his family.”
