
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi from 10 AM to 7 PM today. It could feel as hot as 109°F outside. Even though the thermometer might say 92°F, the humidity will make it feel much hotter—like walking into an oven. The National Weather Service says to drink lots of water, stay in air-conditioned places. They also suggest checking on older family members or neighbors to make sure they're okay.
While nightfall might bring some semblance of relief, with temperatures expected to drop to around 79°F, the high humidity levels lingering in the air will not reassure anyone hoping for a break from the day's steaminess. The National Weather Service detailed forecast predicts slight chances of showers and thunderstorms to offer a temporary respite.
