In a recent revelation that has shaken the local law enforcement community, a New Orleans Police Department officer has been snagged on charges of prostitution and malfeasance while on duty. The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations – New Orleans Field Office, while conducting an initially separate probe earlier this year, stumbled upon evidence implicating 56-year-old Officer Terrance "TJ" Johnson.
Digging deeper, investigators were able to piece together a pattern of illicit behavior by Johnson, who was assigned to the NOPD 8th District, notoriously known as the French Quarter. Sources from the Louisiana State Police indicate that Johnson did not only engage in, but also coordinated paid sexual encounters while donning the badge, betraying a trust supposed to be firmly rooted in the principles of public service.
The evidence gathered by detectives led to an arrest warrant being issued through the Orleans Parish Criminal Court. Johnson, on counts that include two for prostitution, three for malfeasance in office, and two for injuring public records, surrendered to the authorities. On Wednesday, one day before this disclosure, Johnson turned himself in and found himself being booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. The case, as per authorities, is still actively under investigation, as reported by the Louisiana State Police.
