This is not the first time violence has struck this exact corner. WWL-TV reported that the same intersection was the site of a fatal shooting back in December 2016, when officers responding to calls of gunfire found a man shot to death in the street; investigators at the time could not immediately identify suspects or a motive.
A Corridor With a Recent History of Violence
NOPD Fifth District officers arrested a 32-year-old suspect in the 2400 block of Pauger Street who was wanted for dousing two men with flammable liquid and setting them on fire in separate Seventh Ward attacks, according to WWL-TV. That suspect faced two counts of attempted murder.
