A horrific scene unfolded in New Port Richey as a man was left critically injured after his wife allegedly attacked him with sulfuric acid while he slept. WFLA reports that the New Port Richey Police Department received a call for a domestic incident at approximately 5:01 p.m. on Thursday, where officers discovered the man trapped and severely burned in a bedroom on Slippery Rock Road. Following the attack, the victim was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for life-saving surgery.
In a grim account of events, the victim was heard screaming for help as a deputy worked to remove obstructions to reach him, Chuanying He, 50, the alleged assailant had not only poured the acid, but had also barricaded the bedroom door according to investigators and after she called 911 to report the incident authorities arrested her on charges that include attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery resulting in serious bodily injury, "Evidence gathered during the investigation indicates the act was premeditated," a police release stated, as detailed by WFLA.
The victim, currently in critical condition, suffered chemical burns over most of his body; he received urgent medical attention upon first responders' arrival at the scene. Police have confirmed the deliberate nature of the attack, saying the suspect poured the acid onto her husband with the intent to hurt him. FOX13 News adds that after the assault, Chuanying He herself called 911.
Pulling from all reports, it's clear there was a calculated level of cruelty in this domestic violence incident, where the suspect made several attempts on her husband's life before the ultimate acid attack, as she confessed to deputies according to police, which has left a man fighting for his life, and a woman in custody grappling with the severe consequences of a premeditated act authorities piecing together the story, have painted a grim picture of intent and harm inflicted in what was once a shared home space and this latest update on the situation echoes the severity of the charges against Chuanying He with The Tampa Free Press stating that the man remains in critical condition following the purportedly premeditated attack.
