Firefighters in Carroll County faced a substantial challenge as they battled a large barn fire at Coldsprings Dairy Farm in New Windsor. According to WMAR-2 News, the fire, which drew a significant response, resulted in the upgrade to a second-alarm call, occurred on the 3900 block of Hawks Hill Road. While the intensity of the flames surged, thankfully, no injuries were reported amid the fray.
Detailed in an update from WBAL-TV 11 News, a smaller building used for storing sawdust, along with another that contained hay and some farming equipment, collapsed. Fire crews, working diligently since 1 p.m., focused their efforts to contain the fire to the hay, corn, and additional ancillary buildings that had begun to catch fire. Amidst the structures lost, the dairy farm confirmed that all cows were accounted for and unharmed.
The fire's impact on Coldsprings Dairy Farm's infrastructure was severe, with key facilities sustaining catastrophic damage. Officials have not yet provided a cause for the fire, nor an estimated cost of the damage.
