In a serious sweep against drug-related offenses in Iredell County, law enforcement officials have arrested nine individuals in dual drug raids, while ensuring the safety of young minors by transferring them to the custody of protective services. WBTV reports that eight individuals were arrested last week, with two babies and a child being placed under the care of the Iredell County Department of Social Services in the aftermath.
At a press conference, deputies explained that the children were discovered during the execution of search warrants. A subsequent search yielded various substances, including 21 grams of methamphetamine and 35 dosage units of Subutex, a drug used primarily to treat opioid dependency. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was able to quickly act on undercover drug purchases that led them to obtain the search warrants.
Further details from WCNC indicate that among the adults arrested at a Hidden Lakes Road location in Statesville were seven adults, one juvenile, and two infants. According to the same report, drug paraphernalia was found in rooms used by the children, prompting the involvement of social services.
