On a seemingly tranquil Sunday in Orlando, the calm was punctuated by the collapse of a bank's drive-thru roof on South Orange Blossom Trail. As reported by ClickOrlando, the Orange County Fire Rescue was summoned in response to the structural failure at the Truist Bank located at 11200 South Orange Blossom Trail.
Following the initial reports by Orange County Fire Rescue, a detailed check by WESH revealed that there has been no major structural work on the building in recent years, leading up to the collapse. A customer, Bianca Carrion-Rivera, recounted her disbelief as she narrowly missed being at the drive-thru during the time of the collapse, saying, "That's all it was, was God, because... I cannot... I'm in utter shock right now."
Truist Bank has since issued a statement, assuring the public of its proactive measures. "First and foremost, we’re pleased to report there were no injuries related to this damage. Our teams are engaged and partnering with local officials to assess the damage. We’re working diligently to determine when we’ll be able to re-open the branch for our clients," said Brian Davis, Director of Consumer and Small Business Banking Communications at Truist, in a statement reported by ClickOrlando.
Officials have confirmed that, fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries, and the scene has since been passed on to the building inspector for further evaluation.
