In North Fayette, a routine afternoon took a turn towards the dramatic as a crew of firefighters and EMTs responded to a life-threatening situation involving an infant. WPXI reported that Deputy Chief Ian Richards of the North Fayette Township VFD was outside their station on Steubenville Pike when he encountered a mother in distress, her baby choking, moments after being pulled from the car.
Richards, with no time to spare, called upon his team while alerting emergency services. Firefighter and medic Zac Cummings took immediate action, employing back blows to the infant until normal breathing was restored.
The infant, now stable, was then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation to ensure no further complications arose from the ordeal, as reported by Audacy.
