
The New York Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating an individual wanted in connection with a violent assault that took place in Manhattan last week. The NYPD Crimestoppers took to social media, detailing the incident on their official Facebook page. According to their post, the assault occurred last Sunday, at around 9:56 p.m.
In front of 315 Pleasant Avenue, within the jurisdiction of the NYPD 25 Precinct, a 67-year-old man found himself embroiled in a verbal altercation that swiftly escalated. The assailant, whose identity remains unknown, proceeded to attack the elderly victim. The victim was struck in the head and back with what appeared to be a metal pipe, inflicted by the unidentified individual.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. NYPD Crimestoppers has made a call to action, requesting that information be sent via direct message to their Twitter account @nypdtips or to contact them by phone at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). They have not released further details about the suspect or the context of the dispute that preceded the attack.
The NYPD has a history of effectively leveraging social media to gather tips from the public, providing a platform that makes it easier for witnesses or those in possession of critical information to assist law enforcement discreetly.
