Drivers in Oakland County should be aware that beginning August 11, the intersection of Brown Road and Joslyn Road will be closed for two weeks. Located at the border of Auburn Hills and Orion Township, the closure is necessary to complete railroad crossing repairs. The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit to Canadian National (CN) Railway to carry out the work. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during this period.
Drivers who use this intersection, which carries an estimated 40,600 vehicles daily, will need to follow designated detours during the closure. The Road Commission for Oakland County has outlined routes: Joslyn Road traffic will be detoured via Waldon Road to Baldwin Road to Walton Boulevard and back to Joslyn Road. Brown Road traffic will be rerouted via Giddings Road to Waldon Road to Baldwin Road and then back to Brown Road. According to ClickOnDetroit, the intersection is scheduled to reopen on August 24.
The closure aims to address and repair the railroad crossing to ensure continued safety and usability for the Oakland County populace. For those seeking additional information or looking to raise questions regarding the work, CN Railway has established a contact line at 888-888-5909.
