Recently released surveillance video from the Ocoee Police Department sheds more light on the events leading up to the fatal shooting of 54-year-old Stacie Lynn Guerrero. According to WESH, during a press conference, Police Chief Vincent Ogburn Sr. described how officers, responding to the report of a stolen vehicle, approached the silver BMW in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store.
The confrontation escalated quickly, as stated by Ogburn, "She backs up, striking an officer and strikes the patrol vehicle, the officer in front starts getting out of the way and she strikes him,” as detailed by WESH. In response, an officer fired their weapon, resulting in Guerrero's death. She later died at AdventHealth.
FOX 35 Orlando reported that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, which resulted in no serious injuries to the officers involved, both of whom have been placed on paid administrative leave.
