The revamped manual boasts simplified language and useful visuals like checklists and charts to explain electoral procedures, an effort to bolster transparency and trust as November's election approaches.
The revision, which strives for user-friendliness, is part of Secretary LaRose's concerted effort to gear up for the upcoming election, with the manual now being easily accessible online; it provides standardized procedures and legal guidelines crucial for the state's 88 county boards of elections to perform their tasks more efficiently. "Election officials are on the front lines of democracy, and they deserve the best tools we can give them," Frank LaRose said, emphasizing the importance of clarity and the confidence of officials while also empowering the public to better understand how Ohio elections are run – combining to take another step in making our elections more transparent and more trusted.
Additional initiatives under LaRose's belt include the "Ready for November" plan, which covers poll worker recruitment and cybersecurity updates, and a Peer Mentorship Program, designed to foster the sharing of institutional knowledge and best practices among election workers. Moreover, LaRose's office has introduced Transparency Dashboards, offering real-time public data on voter registration and ballot returns that the public can access via the Secretary of State's web portal.
