Between August 4 and August 10, San Bernardino County law enforcement agencies joined forces in a targeted crime suppression effort dubbed "Operation Consequences." As reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the operation spanned across multiple locations including Fontana, San Bernardino, and Colton. Officers from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, with assistance from various patrol stations and other partner agencies, executed five search warrants in an attempt to contact gang members and individuals barred from firearm possession.

Over the course of the week, the action managed to yield eight felony arrests and importantly led to the seizure of five firearms, two of which were untraceable ghost guns. In a statement obtained by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the operations were made possible through additional funding authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. This funding is designed to, gradually over time, enhance the Sheriff’s Department's capability to address quality-of-life issues impacting county residents.

The aggressive patrols and investigations were not confined to the aforementioned locations. The San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team deployed proactive patrols in Fontana and surrounding areas, intensifying the reach of law enforcement's presence. Echoing the broader effort’s goal, these actions strive to disrupt criminal operations, particularly those involving violent crimes and illegal firearms possession, manufacturing, and trafficking.

As part of "Operation Consequences," a collaboration includes personnel from several law enforcement bodies. Participating entities encompass the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, County Probation, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, all unified in addressing the surge of violent crime. This initiative, as noted by Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus in the public announcement, will continue over the coming months to effectively target criminal street gangs and apprehend lawbreakers possessing firearms illicitly.
